The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, will on Monday unveil the Federal Government’s new housing policy aimed at addressing the acute housing needs of Nigerians.
The unveiling, which will be done at a two-day affordable housing summit scheduled for the nation’s capital, is expected to provide stakeholders in the housing sector the opportunity of taking stock of the challenges in the sector with a view to addressing them.
Members of the Technical Working Group of the Affordable Housing Summit (TWG-AHS) 2016 at a joint briefing of State House correspondents yesterday said the planned conference, which will draw participation from both the public and private sectors, would come up with a concrete proposal on how to permanently address the housing needs of Nigerians using the Private-Public Partnership (PPP) approach.
According to Eucharia Alozie, an Architect, the Affordable Housing Summit 2016, is a collaboration of the Ministry in partnership with GIZ (German Development Cooperation).
She added that the proposed new housing policy would put in focus the new approach to the housing provision as envisaged by the Buhari administration.
